Task Force on the Future of Federal Education R&D
Created by the Future of Federal Education R&D Task Force, this blueprint outlines the core functions that should exist to support innovation in education. This joint project of the Alliance for Learning Innovation, InnovateEDU, and the Learning Systems Leadership Network brought together over 150 leaders in the education sector to collaboratively design a forward-thinking and strategic vision for federal education R&D infrastructure.
Three common themes came clearly to light:
Invest in Research and Innovation: High-quality education research is the foundation for designing and scaling innovative tools that improve student outcomes. We need evidence to drive progress.
Empower State and Local Leaders – Those closest to students often have the clearest view of what works and what does not. Elevating local voices ensures that solutions are responsive, scalable, and rooted in real-world needs.
Collect and Analyze Meaningful Data – High-quality data underlies all education innovation. We must build a data infrastructure that collects relevant information on what works and how it works for all students.
